The Ambassador

Born in Mezzanino (Pavia), Italy in 1961.

He graduated “magna cum laude and gold medal” in Business Economics at the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan in 1985.

He is Chartered Accountant and is enrolled in the Italian Register of Auditor.

He spent his whole career in the Family business, Rottapharm, one of the largest, privately owned, European pharmaceutical companies, founded by his father, Prof. Luigi Rovati, in 1961, and that the Rovati family eventually sold in 2014, keeping only the research activity and continuing the involvement in the Life Science domain, aiming at the discovery of innovative pharmaceutical products in the fields of oncology and rheumatology.

Alongside with the involvement in the Pharma Business, he has, throughout his entire life, conducted a parallel activity of investor in companies around the world in various industries and that of university teacher, as adjunct professor and lecturer at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan.

In 2016 he entered the Order of Malta as Knight of Magistral Grace, and he was named Hospitaller of the Association of the Italian Knights (ACISMOM) for the period October 2016 – April 2023.

He served in the Board of CISOM (the Italian Rescue Corp of the Order of Malta) from 2018 until 2023 and in 2019 he entered the Military Corp of ACISMOM with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Italian Army, managing in this position the construction of Covid Hospital in Civitanova Marche, after having raised 12 million Euro among several benefactors.

He served as Deputy Ambassador in the Embassy of the Order to the Kingdom of Jordan from June 2019 until August 2020.

He was  then named Counsellor in the Embassy of the Order to Italy, role that he kept until January 2022.

In February 2022 he was named first Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Hellenic Republic. He presented his credential to H.E. Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic, on September 26th, 2022.
